Kym Ellery showed her SS 13/14 collection on Tuesday, a tough but utterly luxe take on rock and roll that was all sexy cool with a touch of expensive thick silk grunge. Ellery has it’s trademark silhouettes – the flare pant, this time redone in muted floral, the simple shift dresses in beautiful fabrics, dress shorts, bomber jackets, the covet t-shirt top and beautifully tailored jackets were all there , this time joined by cool bustiers and shaggy fur . There is a lot to covet in this collection – Kym Ellery has hit her stride and become synonymous with stand alone pieces that pack a punch. Her stuff might be expensive but it looks good and delivers value – it is certainly not throwaway fashion. It is something that a lot of designers haven’t learnt but Kym has – beautiful fabrics hold value and don’t depreciate. Better start saving.
