Perrier Jouët champagne flowed tonight at the Chanel Spring/Summer 11 show held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney . In a set design evocative of the original Grand Palais show , Chanel showed an edited version of their collection. There were cute tweed jackets in pink, orange and mint, teeny tiny shorts (it’s gonna be a pilates kinda summer!), moth eaten pretty punk jeans and incredible feathery dresses ,my favourite being a little blue tweed number with feathers sown in the bottom. Apart from silver thread woven through the fabric and wonderful graduations between textures , the thing that kept the day looks from being too sweet was the addition of tough platform shoes and booties. Evening looks brought about a dark element with sheer capes, sleek dark dresses and more feathers.
Over the pre-show champagne I bumped into some friends and had a chat. Miss Connie from Sneaky Sound System told me she was working on a soon to be released new album , which i heard on the grapevine was banging !
I also caught up with Romy Frydman and Tamilla Purvis ,both wonderfully creative chicks and stylish to boot.Romy is a stylist who started the much loved Style Me Romy blog a few years back . This blog always has interesting content and portraits not to mention being sartorially perfect .Tamilla on the other hand designs beautiful jewellery with her friend Melanie Kamsler called ManiaMania. Utilising sterling silver, oxidised brass and a range of crystals in amulets, neckpieces, earrings and more,ManiaMania sure is for a new age hippy chick who knows her cool .Check out their new collection worn by the Oz’s own blond femme fatale Abbey Lee.
What a fun night -thank you Chanel! Now where is my pilates timetable?
