Shoes, shoes, shoes! Transparent, plastic, silver, gold, gladiator, iridescent, platform , metallic, monochrome, exotic skins, embellished, white , white & more white are some of Spring 2013‘s shoe trends. Truly next season is all about shoes – from gaudi (Prada) to paired back classics (Saint Laurent) and even some crochet thrown in between (Dolce & Gabanna) .All white shoes with interesting details have entered the scene to complement the white out clothes, monochrome black and white rules, graphic metallics are everywhere and it seems designers have conspired in giving women stripy tan marks due to a strong push toward knee-high cage and gladiator boots. Colour blocking is still alive and well but now it’s edging more toward pastels with some faded neon thrown in to keep things lively here and there. Meanwhile interesting shapes have entered – like skewed block heels, sculptured wedges, architectural , modernist design and a return to platforms. I even fell in love with Charlotte Olympia’s terry towel mules! I never, ever like mules, but these are just gorgeous, in bright colours, channelling a 1950s movie star on set of some impossibly glamorous movie. They had me dreaming of reclining in a neon boudoir, wearing a shiny silk nightgown perhaps with a persian cat in my lap… However more realistically I will probably be investing in the things I really need – like a pair of white pumps (Balmain) or snakeskin iridescencent heels (Lanvin) , simple black sandals , cool cut out booties and one pair of complete pastel metallic pop (I’m looking at you Dior! )! Oh and then I could throw in some colour – and well , ahem – you see this could just go on…and on…until I’m reclining in those mules!
