Fall is upon us here in the Southern Hemisphere and with the change of seasons come the key codes on updating our wardrobes. While I am not someone that overhauls their entire wardrobe each season ( I still have pieces I bought 10-15 years ago that get rotated in my wardrobe whenever the de ja vu trend comes back around the fashion wheel ), I do invest in key pieces of clothing that work hard at being on trend and timeless so that I may re-use them again some day in the future.
For this Coach edit, I am again playing with the Americana collection, this time exploiting the American Prairie Badlands palette of blue and denim and the monochrome bandana print named Badlands Flora whilst utilizing lust have items on my wish list.
(Above and below left) : By now, you are sure to know that flares are the stand out cut for pants this season, but did you know that the perfect style is fitted throughout the leg and elegantly bell shaped at the bottom? These Ellery pants are the epitome of the trend with their flattering cut, subtle texture and the color of summer straw. Another big trend this season is oversized denim -here I am wearing a Kenzo coat dress (from Stylebop ), that makes for a great layering piece over slim fitting pants while providing transeasonal warmth. The crocodile textured Coach bucket bag is supremely practical and an ideal partner to denim shades but did you know that it is also a huge trend in itself ? Bucket bags were all over the runways for European Spring Summer 15, tricked up in various textures. I mixed it all up with some vintage Celine sunglasses and a Cartier Love bangle and Tiffany T bracelet (worn throughout)
Long skirts and maxi dresses have been on the fashion radar for the last couple of seasons, however this season they are a tour de force. I absolutely adore the exuberance, volume and vibrance of this Roksanda Ilincic skirt and the way it ties in with the blues of the Coach bag and this off the shoulder Camilla & Marc top.
Don’t think you need heels to complete this look- the maxi length will work wonders on creating a longer silhouette so all you need is a mannish pair of brogues – mine are from Meandher. Play around with wearing your maxi skirt with vintage logo tees also – for a new take on off duty cool.
For this cute Badlands printed Coach clutch I went a little bad myself – with a nighttime look that is all monochrome chic. This Christopher Esber skirt/shorts doesn’t know it is a trend yet but after wearing it and experiencing the daring yet comforting attributes of wearing a skirt with slits that has perfect shorts sewn in underneath, I can tell you, it feels amazing to wear something so peekaboo flattering minus the scare of a wardrobe malfunction – move over skorts! I paired it with a Balmain singlet (from Farfetch ) and accessorized with a luxe hat from Lack of Colour and shoes from Valentino. Bad never felt so good!
